Easy CBD Edible Recipe

Energy balls are a great snack for every occasion. They’re just convenient, easy to make, good tasting, highly nutritive and energizing, they’re the food that just keeps giving!

A few years ago my mom started suffering from arthritis and I really wanted to help her deal with the daily pains. She was open to trying different medicines and when I told her about the benefits of CBD she was intrigued, especially for its pain-relieving and sleep improving qualities. However she quickly realized she was not a fan of the taste of cannabis and we had to get creative for her to use this product.

Adding CBD to a recipe she loves was actually easier than I thought. CBD oil isn’t necessarily very strong in taste and combined with strong ingredients such as banana, hazelnut and honey you can barely taste it!

Cook time15 mins
Rest time1 hour

How to make Energy Balls with CBD

  1. Roast the almonds by putting them in the oven at 320 F (160C) for 15 minutes and then set them aside to cool down.
  2. While they roast mix the oat flakes in order to obtain flour.
  3. Cut all the dried bananas into dices and mix them with the hazelnut paste and the honey.
  4. Add in the flour by mixing slowly. You should obtain a thick paste, you can add a little water to it if you want.
  5. Chop up the almonds. Add them to the paste with the hemp seeds.
  6. Set aside in the fridge for 1h.
  7. Wet your hands and make balls the size of a nut.
  8. With a chopstick make a whole in the middle of the ball and carefully put a drop of CBD oil in each ball.

I add the cbd at the end to each ball in order to make sure that the cbd is well distributed between each bite… I’m always afraid that if I put it in the mixture directly it’s all going to be in one area. Questions about edibles

Why make CBD edibles?

CBD edibles are very convenient for those who want the benefits of CBD but that don’t enjoy the taste or don’t want to smoke the product. Smoking is not for everyone and it can have other detrimental impacts on your health, for example smoking can be very toxic for your lungs.

Moreover CBD edibles provide a very long-lasting effect compared to smoking. Because you are eating the CBD, it goes into your digestion system with all other foods and thus stays longer in your body. Research has also shown this enables more synergy between your body and the effects of the CBD.

Last but not least, for me the main advantage is that edibles are very discreet. If for whatever reason you don’t want the people around you to know you are using CBD products, or if it’s just something you don’t want to showcase, eating edibles has got you covered! No one will know there’s a drop of CBD in that ball 😉

Are edibles legal?

Obviously the answer to this question is really going to depend on where you are! The question you should be asking yourself is not “are edibles legal?” but rather is “cannabis legal?” and if that isn’t the case “is CBD legal?”. It doesn’t really make sense because they are both components of the same plant but in some countries, for example the UK, CBD is legal while THC is still illegal… Thus you can legally buy CBD edibles in the UK, but only if they contain less than 0.2% THC.

Basically if weed is legal, edibles are legal. If CBD is legal, CBD edibles are legal. In the US we recommend you do a quick search on the state you’re in to check what the legislation is at the moment.
